This painting was created by using a palette knife to lay down a thick and varied layer of paint. Once the initial layers had dried, I scumbled various colors over the textured surface. This seemed the best best way to represent the heavily scarred surface of this granite outcrop created by the repeated action of glaciers and water. These rocks form a barrier that helps trap a bit of sand, protecting a pocket beach on the eastern side of the island.
